Updates

First, I guess I'll give an update on the move even though I'm sad to say there isn't much to update. We have put an offer on a house in Birmingham (which I LOVE). The problem is it is a Fannie Mae home. In addition to their response time taking FOREVER, their counter offers make absolutely no sense. Not to us, our realtor, even the listing agent. Who would have thought dealing with the government would be so time consuming, mind numbing, and frustrating....hmmm? Our Texas house is still on the market and has been shown a lot but no offers. We're praying that the open house this weekend shows some potential. Speaking of praying, I love how the Lord shows you things right when you need them. All of my devotions this week have been on God's perfect timing, waiting well, and His Sovereign hand. I'm thinking there's a lesson to be learned here :)

As for non-house stuff, we have been hanging out since we returned from Mimi's last week. All our friends have fled to cooler climates: Vermont, Minnesota, Colorado, so we've been here in the heat getting in a lot of family time. Yesterday morning was cooler so we went across the street to ride bikes and scooters.

Hadley making some music
Ready to get out of the house
Doesn't everyone ride scooters in tutu's?
Colby's face cracks me up in this picture.
I love living across the street from this beautiful church.
Hadley hanging out with a "friend."
The race was on!!!!
I snapped this picture of the back of our house.
I still love it!
The other day, Justin took Colby on a sales call. Incidentally, Colby closed his first deal :)
The girls and I were browsing Target while our house was being shown. We found this water table marked down to $17. I snatched it up even though we have a sand/water table out back (it just has sand in it). This may have been the best $17 I've spent all summer.
All three kids loved it!

Hadley loves splashing in it.

It's still a little hard to believe my oldest little diva will be in 1st grade this year. She is super excited about starting school, first in Texas and then in Alabama. K is pumped she gets to see all her friends here and then get to be the "new girl" at the new school. I'm so glad she's such a well adjusted kid (and loves the spotlight). Yesterday we went to the library to stock up on books and get ready for school. I picked some harder books for Kinsley thinking I needed to challenge her brain a little. This child blew me away with reading them. I am so proud of her!

Sweet Hadley had her 1 year check up today. She was a month late due to our doctor's office being understaffed this summer. She weighed 20.8 lbs (28.5 percentile) and 30.5" tall (77.44 percentile). She may be long and lean like her sister. She has started walking a little but still prefers crawling to get where she needs fast. She has also started babbling A LOT.
Can anyone believe this little joker will be four in 2 weeks???
Where has the time gone? Colby is turning into such a little boy. He reminds me of my brothers growing up. I will say he has taken leaps and bounds this summer in some areas. He has started eating SO GOOD! The other night, I went to tell him to eat his broccoli only to find out he had already eaten it. It's been so nice to have him eat his dinner with no complaints. Also since it's been so hot, we've been doing a lot of swimming and Colby greatly improved in that too. At the beginning of the summer, I could barely get him in the water. Now he is swimming across the pool by himself! Now if I could just get him to sit still enough to try to write his name.....
Love her face!

We're Still Here...

here being a relative term.
Between house hunting in Alabama, visiting family in Mississippi, and living (for now) in Texas, we're all over the place these days. The blog updates have been few and far between this summer. I've just had a hard time finding time to sit down and do it. This past week we've been back at home and are trying to make the most out of our summer. We've been swimming, going to the library, having story time at Wendy's, Kinsley has had gymnastics/cheer camp, and both Kinsley and Colby have had sleepovers with friends. Here are a few pictures that I've taken while we were at home.

Sweet Hadley
She's not walking yet but she's trying.
She is blowing kisses, waving bye bye, and loves playing peek-a-boo and patty cakes.
K doing art projects
Kinsley and Colby did a very accurate rendition of Gnomeo and Juliet for us.
It probably helped that they've watched the movie a million times.
Colby playing Gnomeo/Thibult.

Sisterly love
Before church on Sunday
We had game night last week when Justin was out of town.
The girls playing Twister.
Everyone played CandyLand.

It's Never Boring Around Here

I honestly think we have two speeds around here, fast and faster. We usually have a lot going on anyway but these days it is insanity. Last week we spent a fabulous week at the beach with my family (except Beau and Jenna) where we celebrated Hadley's 1st birthday a little early. While we were there we got the call that Justin had been offered a position (within E-Z Go) in Birmingham! Upon returning from the beach it has been a mad dash to get things done in hopes of getting settled before school starts in August. I am having my doubts though. We are super excited about moving closer to friends and family (I am so over those 9 hour drives to MS). However it is a little bittersweet leaving Texas. Despite not being thrilled about moving to Houston at first, we have thoroughly enjoyed living here. We have made some amazing friends that have become our family. We've already vowed to meet at the beach next summer :)

Of course while we were at the beach I think I took my camera out twice.
Terry is so much better at taking pictures so why bother?
Here are the few I got last week.

Aunt Melinda showing off Hadley's party favors.
Koozies, so appropriate for a 1st birthday, I know.
We did the party by the pool.
It was a beautiful background but it was scorching.
We had to break records for throwing the shortest party ever.

The birthday banner by Mimi.
Party girl
She couldn't get any cuter!
The party-goers
Ready for the seahorse smash cake by Nanny
She dug into it but never really ate any.
Seriously, it was really hot out.

I did get a few pics in one of her tutu swimsuits.
Yesterday, we celebrated Hadley's real birthday.
I cannot believe this precious baby is 1!
Under the table.
I think she's hiding from her siblings.
We started off with our traditional birthday pancakes.
The wild child would try to grab the lit candle.
Notice who has always by her side?
Next she opened her gifts.

Hadley was a little upset that this doll bottle was not a real one.
Look who jumped in to help.
Checking out the pink barn.
Clothes!
Wait, whose birthday is it?
So sweet!
The best I could get of all 3.
Pathetic I know.
After gift opening, the older siblings played with her toys and Hadley went to her favorite spot.
Hanging from the stair baby gate.
She really is a monkey.
The birthday girl with her favorite person.
I'm okay with it.
Really.
Momma loving on the birthday girl.
This is what happens to sweet baby girls when they turn 6.
They want you to take pictures of them saying "Loser."
We took Hadley to Wendy's for the "Balloon Lady" and story time.
When we got home she crashed hard. I hated to wake her up to eat cake but the older kids had to go to another birthday party.

I know she was wondering why we kept sticking food with a candle in her face all day.
She really got into eating the cake this time.
Happy 1st Birthday Hadley Sophia!!!
We Love You!!!!!!!
